TKO: Crosman Pistol PCP Conversion Tutorial:
This tutorial was created in March 2009 and updated July 2019. Since then, we have created over 50 PCP conversions using 2240, 2250, 2400, 2300, and the 2260 airtubes, along with several custom SS tubes of various lengths. All shoot great, and a few are world--class target guns.
#1. The valve and fill adapter and cap from Crosman (about $50 and about 7-10 days wait):
#2. I used a brand new 2250B. FYI...the roll stamping of the 2250B
airtube ENDS 1.75" before the pressurized portion of the tube. Clean the
tube thoroughly!
#3. I use my lathe to slowly spin the tube to find the center alignment
of the lower attaching hole and to locate the plane where the valve side
pin holes will be drilled. CAUTION: The upper air port hole on the tube
MAY NOT BE ALIGNED WITH THE LOWER SCREW HOLE. I mark it with the lower
screw hole as my indicator for center.
#4. I found the EXACT CENTER of the tube. I use a piece of drill rod
placed through the upper airport and lower screwhole to assure that whe
drilled through the holes will be exactly 90 degrees from the upper and
lower holes.
#5. Showing the hole drilled through both sides showing the indicating line.
#6. Showing the inside of the tube and the burrs that need to be removed.
#7. De-burring the holes.
#8. The tube de-burred and cleaned thoroughly of all cutting oil.
#9. The side valve screws with the heads turned down and trimmed for length.
#10. Note the slight bevel to the screw head. Allows for a nice tight fit to the airtube.
#11. If the gun uses the forward breech screw location (like my 2250B),
we will have to drill clearence at the head of the valve.
#12. Assemble using lots of divers grease (pure silicon grease.) Showing the valve pin on the left side.
#13. Shows the "Strike One" striker arrestor for my Crooked Barn breech.
#14. Filled to 1500 PSI, the small tube of the 2250 gets 10 nice shots,
with another 3 that are falling off very rapidly. I have a standard
weight hammer in it, but will replace with a very light hammer to try
for 15 shots in the 560-580 fps range with 14.3s.
Tested to 2300 psi x 12 fills. The valve is close to valve lock with the lght 2250 spring.
